Liberata wins TWO awards at the Commercial Credit & Collections Awards!

A night to remember for the Liberata Debt Recovery team.

For the first time, the Liberata team attended the Commercial Credit & Collections Conference and the awards ceremony. The conference was a great day to meet with our peers in the collections industry and showcase our Debt Assist solution. And we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The awards

We were shortlisted for four awards and had a fantastic night at the ceremony in York, and we’re delighted to say we won the Consumer Collections Team of the Year AND Innovator of the Year (Company).

Our winning entries:

Innovator of the Year (Company)

We earned this recognition for our new Debt Assist solution, which helps organisations move away from enforcement-led recovery and adopt better, more sustainable debt strategies. Combining AI, geo-demographic insights, and early intervention, Debt Assist supports financial wellbeing while improving recovery rates. In one case, over three years, we helped recover £1.4 million in long-standing adult social care debt that was considered lost.

The service improves financial wellbeing and recovery outcomes with tools like budgeting support and alternative payment channels. Our benefits calculator has helped residents in some Local Authority areas to find an average of an additional £10,000 per person per year.

Consumer Credit Team of the Year

We have assisted nine Local Authorities in modernising their Council Tax debt recovery by moving away from enforcement-led approaches and focusing on ethical, data-driven engagement. The team introduced digital journeys, AI-driven tools, and tailored support for vulnerable households. Innovations such as data-guided, tailored communications strategies and flexible payment plans ensure higher engagement and better outcomes without increasing indebtedness. Our ethical recovery approach achieved a 1.63% increase above expected collections for a council in the Northwest, translating to an additional £874k, without increasing pressure on struggling residents.

We were also proud to be shortlisted for both Business Collections Team of the Year and Credit Modelling & Risk Team of the Year. These entries highlighted the strength of our innovative solutions, from transforming business rates recovery with AI and simplified support to enabling more sustainable, people-focused debt strategies through Debt Assist.

About the Commercial Credit & Collections Conference

The conference brought together senior professionals from the credit, collections, and insolvency sectors to explore the latest developments shaping commercial credit management. With expert panels covering everything from economic forecasts and regulatory reform to digital transformation and data strategy, the event focused on the trends shaping the future of commercial credit. It provided a fantastic opportunity to exchange ideas, explore new technologies, and connect with industry peers while highlighting innovation and best practices in a rapidly evolving sector.

Eastleigh Borough Council has worked with Liberata for a number of years who undertake the council's empty home reviews, and I must say, their service exceeded all expectations. From start to finish, they demonstrated professionalism, efficiency, and a genuine commitment to addressing this critical issue in our community. Thanks to Liberata, the council has been able to maximise our empty home bonus year on year. This positive impact on our community cannot be overstated.

The RV Finder service from Liberata has really helped us ensure that our data is as accurate as possible and, when the VOA has processed the outstanding cases, I fully expect to see more than £1,000,000 of additional RV. The “risk and reward” model works well and the Council only has to pay for their success and the service is something that we will use on a regular basis.

Liberata has been empowered to create a seamless integration with technology to digitally transform the Revenues and Benefits service whilst trying to protect local jobs. The joint strategy has helped to deliver innovative solutions that have exceeded expectations, whilst providing savings to the authority. This surge in digital engagement has helped deliver strong year one outturn with electronic billing and the technology will enable us to show improvements in the benefits speed of processing and in Council Tax processing of moves, discounts and exemptions.
