Liberata achieves ISO 45001

Cardiff Business Centre successfully gains ISO 45001

We are pleased to announce that after an external audit by the British Assessment Bureau, our Cardiff Business Centre has successfully achieved the ISO 45001 certification, the international standard for Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) management systems.

What is ISO 45001 certification?

ISO 45001 helps organisations improve workplace safety and minimise employee injuries. It provides a framework for building an effective Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OH&S Management System) to identify and mitigate risks and monitor workplace activities.

We proactively prevent workplace ill-health and injury by implementing ISO 45001 and integrating employee wellbeing and wellness activities.

ISO certification and bidding for contracts

ISO certifications are often a requirement or a significant advantage when bidding for contracts. By meeting tender requirements, ISO certifications show potential new customers that we meet the necessary compliance standards.

ISO standards focus on continuous improvement, efficiency, and customer satisfaction, which can positively impact our overall performance and competitiveness.

In response to gaining our ISO 45001 certification, Andy Norris, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, said:

“Thanks to the entire team for their hard work, which has achieved this certification.

Thanks to Ruth Smith, Tower Director for Middle Office and Automation Services, Nick Milford, Delivery Manager, and all of our colleagues at Cardiff. They were closely supported by Glynis Hill and Sharon Ahronson, our Health and Safety experts in the CSR team.

Having already been certified at our Head office in Cheapside, we will move on to our Business Centres in Bromley and Barrow before the end of the year.”

In addition to ISO45001, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team is also leading on the work towards ISO14001, Environmental Management Systems (EMS) certification, before the end of 2025.

Eastleigh Borough Council has worked with Liberata for a number of years who undertake the council's empty home reviews, and I must say, their service exceeded all expectations. From start to finish, they demonstrated professionalism, efficiency, and a genuine commitment to addressing this critical issue in our community. Thanks to Liberata, the council has been able to maximise our empty home bonus year on year. This positive impact on our community cannot be overstated.

The RV Finder service from Liberata has really helped us ensure that our data is as accurate as possible and, when the VOA has processed the outstanding cases, I fully expect to see more than £1,000,000 of additional RV. The “risk and reward” model works well and the Council only has to pay for their success and the service is something that we will use on a regular basis.

Liberata has been empowered to create a seamless integration with technology to digitally transform the Revenues and Benefits service whilst trying to protect local jobs. The joint strategy has helped to deliver innovative solutions that have exceeded expectations, whilst providing savings to the authority. This surge in digital engagement has helped deliver strong year one outturn with electronic billing and the technology will enable us to show improvements in the benefits speed of processing and in Council Tax processing of moves, discounts and exemptions.
