Liberata employees in Newport raise £600.00 for Age Cymru
March 03, 2010
Employees working at Liberata’s Newport Business Centre have raised £600.00 for Age Cymru – the recently merged charity of Age Concern Cymru and Help the Aged in Wales.
Liberata’s staff committee, who co-ordinated the project throughout 2009, chose Age Cymru as they felt older people were often ignored when it came to fundraising. The Committee also felt that their money would have a significant impact by working with a specialist charity like Age Cymru.
The 171 staff members at Liberata’s Newport Office provide services to a number of central government departments including the Ministry of Justice and the Prison Service.
Age Cymru’s Account Manager, Michael Phillips, said: “We can turn the generosity of Liberata’s staff into practical help and support for older people across Wales. With soaring fuel bills, the economic climate and the huge pressures on health and social care budgets, older people in Wales need our support more than ever.
Liberata’s Shared Service Director, Paul Davies, said: “All of us here at Liberata in Newport are keen to support fund raising activities in local communities across Wales and what is a better cause than Age Cymru. We look forward to supporting this charity in the future.”
